Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the IB ACIO 2025 examination, candidates must ensure they meet the detailed eligibility criteria.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 27 years as on the closing date of application, i.e., 10.08.2025.

Age Relaxation

Age relaxations are applicable for various categories as per Government norms:

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• Departmental Candidates: Up to 40 years of age, for those who have rendered 3 years of regular & continuous service in Central Govt. Civilian posts.
• Widows, Divorced Women & Women Judicially Separated: Up to 35 years for UR, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST.
• Ex-Servicemen (ESM): As per Government instructions.
• Meritorious Sportspersons: Up to a maximum of 5 years.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Graduation or equivalent degree from a recognized university. The essential qualification must be obtained on or before the closing date, 10.08.2025 (till 2359 hours).

Desirable Qualification: Knowledge of computers.

Salary and Allowances

The post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Executive (ACIO-II/Exe) falls under Level 7 of the pay matrix, with a pay scale of Rs.44,900-1,42,400.

In addition to the basic pay, candidates are eligible for admissible Central Government allowances, which include:

• Special Security Allowance: @ 20% of basic pay.
• Cash Compensation: In lieu of duty performed on holidays, subject to a ceiling of 30 days.

Job Location

The post involves All India Transfer liability. Therefore, only candidates willing to serve anywhere in India should apply.

Selection Process

The selection process for the IB ACIO 2025 examination involves three tiers:

Scheme of Examination

Cut-off Marks (Tier-I): To achieve qualitative selection, the minimum cut-off marks (out of 100) in Tier-I are: UR-35, OBC-34, SC/ST-33 & EWS-35.

Shortlisting for Tier-II: Candidates will be shortlisted @ 10 times the number of vacancies based on their performance and normalization of marks in Tier-I, provided they score the minimum cut-off.

Shortlisting for Tier-III/Interview: Candidates will be shortlisted @ 5 times the number of vacancies based on their combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-II, provided they secure a minimum of 33% marks (17 out of 50) in the Tier-II exam.

The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III/Interview. The final selection is subject to successful completion of Character & Antecedent verification followed by Medical Examination.

• Essay (20 Marks): Candidates will be required to write an essay on a given topic, testing their writing skills, coherence, and ability to present arguments.
• English Comprehension (10 Marks): This section will assess the candidate’s understanding of English language through comprehension passages and related questions.
• Long Answer Type Questions (2 questions of 10 marks each – 20 Marks): These questions will cover topics related to Current Affairs, Economics, Socio-political issues, and other relevant contemporary subjects, requiring analytical and descriptive answers.
